Bi-weekly Theme: MYTHOLOGY/FAIRYTALES

The second most requested genre, and one of my own very favorite genres to work with. Remember, you don’t have to tie your story to existing fairytales or myths (although it’s fine if you want to)- make one up if you want!

(Sorry for posting this a day late! I got a bit caught up in birthday shenanigans yesterday, haha.)

Since they’re at home in this theme, I’d thought I’d also introduce a couple of Wrench’s… Associates, along with her first draft design. As  you can see, I didn’t change that much. Main thing was the corset and making her weird skirt thing into something that I knew what the heck it is.
This image also shows that Wrench is rather short.
The young man on the left is Emil Screw, the gentleman I described last time who proclaims himself to be Miss Wrench’s Rival. Tends to screw people’s words, screw the truth, or just plain screws up sometimes. Flamboyant, arrogant, and sometimes even vindictive…
The older gentleman on the right is Wiley Newton. An information merchant by trade, though also something of a trickster. He is the best at his trade, but often willing walks others into traps, sometimes of his own creation, though usually they turn out well for the one who paid him for the information, in ways unexpected. You can trust him as far as you can throw him, but at the same time there is no other source of information as reliable as he is.
These are their first draft designs that one of these days I’m going to have to overhaul as well.

Aaaa steampunk clothes, why are you so ridiculous. This was a ton of fun.
It was interesting, moving from a goofy high school setting to like—imagining them all aboard an airship, working in various capacities (Jackie would be security, Evelyn would probably run the whole place, Tasha would be a mechanic, and Owen would. Be Evelyn’s incompetent assistant, probably).

Hey, Chessboard Ghost here again, with my other promised character for this venture, Elisabeth Wrench, who is right at home in this theme, hence this is her “default” design.
I had hoped to finish Character sketches for all my planned characters before the themed weeks, but fortunately for me, Elisabeth Wrench was set to be in her Element for the first themed week of SteamPunk, as that is what her setting is. So this should have been an easy one to kick out, just grab my design and upload. However, I decided to considerably revamp it(though still tracing on top of the first try). See, to get the pose, I had photographed a hybrid of a couple figma toys. I liked the result so much I decided that was her design. This revamp makes it more original, doing away with more of the features of the toys, as well as adding some much needed colour. I decided to give her mostly greys and faded green.Basically, her world has an organisation go back and rewrite history. Their goal? Unknown. The Result? A Steampunk world. She is the main character of her series, which I hope to make a video game out of one day (Phoenix Wright like investigations, with Castlevania like Bosses and chase sections). Elisabeth Wrench is a Paranormal Investigator. She is the apprentice of her adoptive father, Frank Scar. She is a good fighter, and brave, and various other good qualities, but also very quiet and shy, to the point of almost being antisocial. Basically, the incident in which she lost her parents, even though she can’t clearly remember it, had a profound effect on her, mentally and supernaturally. She wears a patch over one eye, since this eye has a habit of seeing things that are not there. Things that could have been.
More details past the click-through link.

thechessboardghostslibrary asked: Just wondering will everything that is submitted, apart from posts with actual issues (being offensive, etc), get posted on the blog, or are there actual standards? I thought I submitted my default Elisabeth Wrench a while ago, but she has yet to appear.

Everything will be submitted! If there is some issue that keeps me from submitting something, I’ll send a note to the submitter to let them know- which means if you sent something and it hasn’t been posted, tumblr probably ate it, sorry D: Go ahead and send it again!

Submission for the steampunk theme~
Since Chilong will never ever wear anything but chinese (or at least oriental) clothing, I had to somehow try to dress them up in some kind of chinese steampunk. Not sure if it works. Steampunk is hard:D
(… is this okay or did I mess up something? XD; )

Hi, I’m mesitka! Let me introduce my two chars who will be used for the designs:
On the left is Casimir, basically an overpowered immortal brat. Cruel, childish, cheerful and indestructible, he’s probably the most annoying kind of villain. He likes dragons, suits, uniforms, vests and bullying everyone.
On the right there’s Chilong, an incredibly old and incredibly rich owner of a sucessfull inter-dimensional brothel. She’s always carefully maintaining her neutrality, but is also surprisingly gentle and caring for a brothel queen. She’s very fond of money, good food, young boys and good accountants.
They’re actually dragon-like monsters, but usually wear human forms and only their black sclera and bright eye colours hint at their origin.

Moving to bi-weekly schedule now!

Hey everyone! Just an announcement- after some advice and some thinking, I’m going to extend the amount of time with each genre to two weeks instead of one.

Right, hey there! I am Zumie-Monster, and this is my little crew I’ll be playing with for the challenge. From left to right, they are; Tasha (or Honeybee), Jackie, Owen, and Evelyn.

I have drawn some of them more extensively here and here—I’ll probably try and get the finished versions of Tasha and Evelyn up sometime this weekend.

Greetings, The Chessboard Ghost/ ChessboardMan/ Kagato TEG/ Shadow Mask Prime hear. I fancy myself more an writer than an Artist, though I don’t consider my art to be bad, just there’s an awful lot better stuff.
First up from me, the default design of the Fang Toothed Story Teller, a character set to appear in a series of novels I’m writing (and probably other stuff under other names). They appear late on, as in, about 3 or 4 novels into the series, but click though for my quick first attempt at the first face to face encounter with this character.
